PhD through GATE

• Many Post-doctoral programs take direct admission based on the GATE score and an interview.
• Stipend is more for students admitted through a valid GATE score.
• Stipend ~ 25K-35K per month.
• There are many opportunities to go abroad and pursue R&D once you are enrolled in PhD Program in IITs.
• Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) also offers Junior Research Fellowship program for candidates willing to pursue research through GATE and program is known as JRF-GATE.

MS through GATE

• IITs also offer MS programs in addition to M.Tech. Programs though GATE.
• In addition to IITs, a few foreign universities like NUS and NTU allow Indian students to use GATE score instead of GRE score for admission into their post-graduate courses.

Jobs through GATE

• 23 PSUs and Private Companies have MoU with GATE and consider GATE exam as written test for the jobs of Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) and Management Trainee (MT).
• The weightage of GATE score in these companies is around 85% and rest 15% is reserved for GD/PI. So, a good GATE score more or less guarantees your selection in these companies.
• The average package of these industries varies from 8-13 lakhs per annum and also 7th Pay Commission is due soon.
• State Government Industries are also signing MoUs with GATE as at present Odisha Power Generation Corporation Limited (OPGCL), Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) have tied up with GATE-2015 for recruitment.

FPM through GATE

• Fellow Program in Management is a doctoral program run by many IIMs.
• The course duration is 4-5 years.
• GATE score can be used for applying in many streams of this program.
• Boarding and Lodging is free in most of the institutes.
• Scholarship of 20k – 40k is provided.
